Let's kick off a great 2008 with the annual United Chambers of Sumner County Luncheon. It's Monday, January 14th at 11:00 am at Gallatin City Hall. We're very excited that Cal Turner, Jr., retired CEO of Dollar General, will be our guest speaker.
We're also pleased to announce that this year the luncheon will benefit the Small Business Development Center at Volunteer State Community College.

ABOUT CAL TURNER, JR.
In 1977, Cal Turner, Jr. was named president of Dollar General. Later that year, the company acquired United Dollar Stores, an Arkansas-based retail chain. Dollar General saw great success in the early 1980s averaging a 23 percent increase between 1981 and 1984.
During Call Turner, Jr.'s tenure as CEO, from 1977 to 2002, the company grew from 671 company-owned stores with more than 2,700 employees to 6,113 stores and more than 53,000 employees. Total sales during that period grew from $129.6 million to $6.1 billion.
